Biography
One day I was walking through a store and noticed the packaging. As I walked through the aisle, I started criticizing the color choices and layout. Then it hit me, people do this for a living. It’s someone’s job to design the world around us. At that moment I knew what I wanted my career to be. In high school I took basic design courses teaching me the basics of Adobe software. Additionally, those classes taught me how to work with customers and machinery. We would design posters, tickets, and T-shirts for school events, and we would have to work with the coordinators to help them visualize their ideas. We would also press T-shirts and cut out posters and tickets teaching me how to use different machinery.
In college I was able to refine my design skills as I worked with the same adobe software but with a deeper understanding and application. I grew both problem solving and layout design. I believe problem solving is very important. Many times, throughout college I have been given an assignment seemingly outside of my knowledge. Through those challenges I have really been able to develop a greater problem solve skill. Additionally, college has taught me the intricate elements of design layout and typography. Both these skills are crucial in being successful in the work field.
